EDUARDO ABELA. Homage to the Isaac and Betty Rudman Collection

13 Mar 2025 - 30 May 2025

Eduardo Abela is an artist whose work has left an unforgettable legacy in the history of Cuban art. Recognized as one of the exponents of the so-called First Vanguard in the early 20th century, alongside Amelia Peláez, Víctor Manuel, and Carlos Enríquez. His unique style and critical yet poetic approach reflect the social and cultural complexities of his time, addressed with both sensitivity and mastery.

Latin Art Core is proud to present this exhibition in tribute to Isaac and Betty Rudman, honoring their work as collectors in assembling one of the most comprehensive Latin American art collections of the 21st century. Their collection includes a total of sixty-five pieces by Eduardo Abela. Thanks to their generosity, forty of these paintings are now being reintroduced to the Cuban art market, granting them new contemporary significance and relevance.

This will be the first Eduardo Abela exhibition in Miami in forty years, an unprecedented event that will allow the public to reconnect with his work in a renewed context. The exhibition, which could be considered a retrospective of his career, represents a unique opportunity to appreciate Abela’s artistic evolution through paintings spanning from the 1920s to 1964.

The fact that his production was not particularly prolific makes each of his works an invaluable testimony to Cuba’s artistic history. The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to appreciate them as a whole, highlighting their significance and legacy.

We deeply thank Isaac and Betty for their generosity and vision, which have made this encounter between the past and present of Cuban art possible, ensuring its preservation and dissemination.
