Ruben Alpízar - Latin Art Core

Rubén Alpízar Quintana (born in Santiago de Cuba in 1965 ) is an contemporary artist. He studied mainly at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) in Havana.

His most recent solo exhibitions have been: The dizziness of freedom, Museum of the Americas, San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1999 and 2000 with the same title at the Gallery La Acacia, Havana; in 2000 The Great Game, Gallery 23 and 12, Collateral to the VII Biennial of Havana; in 2003 Living Story, collateral exposure to VIII Biennial of Havana in the Convent of St. Francis of Assisi, this exhibition was shown in December of that same year in the Gallery "Space 304", San Juan, Puerto Rico with the title Continuation of Mito and in 2005 the reconstruction of the events in the "San Antonio Maria Claret", Santiago de Cuba, Cuba and Cuban Barbecue Express, Gallery Havana Club Rum Museum, City Cultural and Missionary Animation Center Havana, Cuba. Recently in May 2006 Dressed Histories, Cultural Center Infanta Cristina, Pinto, Madrid, Spain.

He has participated in over 50 group exhibitions, among which are: International Contemporary Art Fair ARCO'98 in Madrid, Spain; The Boston International Fine-Art Show BIFAS'98 in the United States; VI International Painting Biennial of Cuenca, Ecuador in 1998 and in that year II Salon of Contemporary Cuban Art in Havana, Cuba. In 1999 at the International Exhibition of Modern and Contemporary Art in Europe FIAC '99, Paris, France and Cuban art, beyond the role, Conde Duque Cultural Center, Madrid, Spain. In 2001 Cuba Infinita island, Costa Rican Center of Science and Culture, National Gallery, San Jose, Costa Rica and Visions, Homage to Our Lady of Charity, Museum of the Americas, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

From 1998 to 2001 he was invited to the ARTEBA Contemporary Art Fair in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2002 Time see, Joint Exhibition with Ernesto Rancaño and Ma del Pilar, in the Gallery "Space 304", San Juan, Puerto Rico and in 2003 Common Sense, Gallery Havana in Havana.; in that same year participated in the Special Exhibition of the VIII Havana Biennial Ways to invent a smile at the Center for Development of Visual Arts, Havana, Cuba and domestic labor, Provincial Center for Visual Arts, Pinar del Río , Cuba.

In 2004 his works were included in the Cuban contemporary art exhibition, Gallery Entre dos Aguas, Madrid, Spain and at the International Fair of Toronto, Metro Toronto Convention Center, Toronto, Canada; later that year and in 2005 participated in the Subastahabana, Havana, Cuba and in the same year his works participated in Art Fair Artexpo Atlanta, Atlanta, USA. In 2006 he participated in Play Ball, collateral exposure IX Biennial of Havana, Open Space Gallery, Havana.

His works are in important collections like the Ludwig Forums for Internationale Kunst, Aachen , Germany; the Fondo Nacional de las Artes, Buenos Aires, Argentina; the Emperor of Japan; United Colors of Benetton, Havana; Façonnable, Panama; Nicolas Guillen Foundation, Havana; the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art (ICAIC), Havana, Infanta Cristina Cultural Center, Pinto, Madrid, Spain and in private collections in Argentina, Costa Rica, Panama, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Colombia, the US, Spain, Canada, Cayman, France, Italy
